Prim & Lukas
8 – 9 January 2027
Kirimaya Resort, Khao Yai, Thailand
Welcome to the website!
Even though we had to push our wedding back a year — and yes, we know some of you were starting to wonder — it's finally happening, and you're invited!
Choosing where to get married wasn't easy. The Netherlands or Thailand? We asked around, and many of you were either already in Thailand or excited to go, so that the answer became clear. And since we spend our lives in the flattest country on earth, we figured we should get married in an area that has a special place in our heart: so, we're getting married in the mountains.
We'd love to celebrate with you at Kirimaya Resort, nestled in the mountains of Khao Yai. Over two days, we'll honour both our Thai and Western roots, share delicious food and warm company, and create memories we'll all carry for a long time.
Every activity across both days is completely optional — come and go as you please, and celebrate in whatever way feels right for you. We're just glad you're there.
The Wedding Program
Day One
Friday, 8 January
To celebrate Prim’s roots and her buddhist background, the first day is diving deep into a traditional Thai ceremony.
A quick note on Thai weddings: there's no grand, surprise proposal moment. It's less¯down on one knee in a restaurant and more two families sitting together, drinking tea, and sensibly agreeing that this is a good idea. What follows is something between an engagement and a wedding ceremony — we're calling it an engagement ceremony, though we're using that term loosely (very loosely).
Thai ceremonies have a lot of moving parts, and we've kept the elements that feel meaningful to us while skipping the ones that don’t.
10:00 – 14:00 · Thai Blessing Ceremony
Conference Room, Kirimaya Resort
Traditionally, this would kick off at 7am but we choose to start at 10. The ceremony opens with Buddhist monks chanting blessings and consecrating holy water — which makes a reappearance later.
The couple also makes merit together by offering alms to the monks, which is both a meaningful ritual and a peaceful way to start a wedding day.
The peacefulness stops there as next comes the Khan Maak procession — the moment where the groom and his entourage make their way to the bride. Sounds straightforward. It is not.
The bride's family and friends block the path with a series of gates, and the groom and his entourage must negotiate his way through each one via games, playful challenges, and offerings of gold and money. Your job here is to cheer them on.
Once everyone is satisfied that he's worthy, we move into the Rod Nam Sang — a Buddhist ritual at the heart of the ceremony. Guests are invited to pour holy water over the couple's joined hands using a conch shell, symbolising purity, good fortune, and the blessing of everyone gathered.
